My logo is designed to showcase a simple forest ecosystem in the traditional art form of Scherenschnitt (paper cutting). I fell in love with Scherenschnitt upon moving to Switzerland. This is an old tradition that Swiss farmers took up in the winter to fill their evenings. It’s hard to imagine swollen farmers’ hands doing such delicate work, but they do and their art is beautiful. There are other cultures that also do paper cutting and you can see a sampling of traditional and modern forms at the Auschnitt – Raum für Schnittkunst in Aarau. To see a large collection of traditional work and maybe even talk with a practicing artist, visit Das Hüsy Restuarant und Galerie in Blankenburg. For other collections to visit, check out the Schweizer Verein Freunde des Scherenschnitts.
